It is an honor to have a portion of my Site used by celebrants half a world away! In the States we usually call it a handfasting.

Please feel free to contact me via Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ernest.adams) or email if you would like specific help. It is always a pleasure to share with fellow celebrants / officiants. And, believe me, we're not going to be competing!

Rebecca, I recently performed a handfasting ceremony on the beach, everyone commented on how beautiful it was. I am also preparing for another one in a few months time. If you want a copy of the ceremony let me know and I will email it to you.

A Handfasting is a ceremony thats origins hark way back to before major religion became a focal area for celebrating a wedding. Many pagan couples will have a handfasting, especially if they have a lineage or affinity with Celtic traditions, and even some of us who don't, will still do it because it is a beautiful and symbolic ceremony ;)

There is a myriad of information on the web and if you google handfasting, you will get many ideas. Although if you put in 'hand fastening' you may get some very errmm 'unusual' sites come back to you

Like the others who have offered, I am willing to help. Being pagan, this is a special and meaningful part of my life.

Hi there,
I recently performed a pagan wedding ceremony that included a hand fasting ritual. It was easy to Google information on all parts of this type of ceremony including the handfasting as well as including info from books that I borrowed or had myself. The ritual itself is easy and lovely, the only thing to remember Is this that you don't untie or cut the cord during the ceremony, the couple have to get themselves unbound without untying the knot. That is easy if you tie the handfasting cord in a figure 8 pattern around their wrists before they say their vows, they can twist their wrists sideways and the cord comes apart

Here is how I included this in the ceremony; after the asking....

Me ; Please join your right hands together
With this ribbon, you now bind yourselves to the vows that you make to each other….(tie into figure 8 around wrists)
Reciting of vows….

Me; by the secrets of earth, air, fire and water this bond is woven and your lives are intertwined. May this knot remain tied for as long as love shall last.

But unfortunately, you cannot always be physically joined (removes cord without untying it and lays it on the table) and therefore a wedding ring is a symbol of the vows that you have just made to each other....

Ring ceremony...

It flowed well
let me know if you need any more info on this ceremony
