Why I'm a celebrant: An interest and enthusiasm for people and telling their stories.

Treasured memories: Given the task of creating a funeral service for a woman who was estranged from her family, so much so that they could only provide the most basic details of her life and didn’t want to be involved in the planning – I was at a loss as to know where to start.
But little by little, almost like a detective; from the era in which she was born, the few things I did know and a bit of research into places she might have gone, events of the day, I was able to bring it all together in a way that ultimately made the family feel closer to each other and warmer in their memories of the departed.

Tips : Don’t feel you have to rush when planning a funeral. There’s no hard and fast rule that says you have to have it 2 or 3 days later. If a week allows you the time to recover from the initial shock, then so be it.
